When the fiancé of a Samoan chief contacts you (a real life chief, I tell ya!) and asks you to design her wedding invitation combining her Irish background with his, and then totally digs the idea of Samoan tattoos – and hell, sends you a pic of her own man in all his blush-inducing tattooed glory – what do you say? Umm.. dream bride where do you come from and please make sure you pass my number along.

You see, Tino had spent 8 days, all painful I’m certain, using the traditional Samoan tattoo technique to accomplish his finished work of bodily art. A very special thing, when all four of his brothers, and both mum and dad had had the full traditional tattoos done this way too.

Now seeing as though their wedding was to be had in Ireland, and we certainly didn’t want to be leaving Tino’s heritage out of the whole concept, I thought it would be just perfect to incorporate as much of Tino into the design as possible. And no better way to do that than translating the above story into a Samoan-inspired tattoo pattern, brought to life with Valerie’s favourite colours. And colour she loved – I’ve never met a bride so open to COLOUR!!
